About the book
As an adolescent, Teodor travelled through Rumanian villages and listened to the stories told by superstitious farmers. Now a successful man, he returns from the West to his home to see whether he would really have been happier there. And also to retrace the love of his youth. Following a car accident, he finds himself stranded in an isolated location where he meets a blind masseur and his friends. Teodor is fascinated by the place where patients read works of world literature on tape for the masseur. Florescu creates a world which is both merciless and poetic, beautiful and despairing. A story filled with life and a wonderful declaration of love to the power of literature.
